Lending a hand to those in need, an exoskeleton prosthetic for the paralyzed.
This project was created during the MakeMIT 2016 Hackathon with the goal of assisting patients with a paralyzed arm. In the first prototype made during Phase 1 of the make-a-thon, the prosthetic would assist the user in making different hand gestures such as a fist, point, peace sign, and rock fingers. In Phase 2 of the make-a-thon, the project was extended from the hand to the entire arm. The user would use an app with bluetooth capabilities to control the movement of the stepper motor at the elbow and linear actuators to move the fingers.
